Federal Recycling & Waste Solutions recently installed new pallet grinding technology at its Jefferson City, Mo. recycling plant to increase operational efficiency and boost the company’s ability to handle additional pallet types and volume from suppliers for its reclamation and sales business. The new equipment grinds pallet offcuts and broken parts as well as unusable pallets into a form consumable as high-efficiency biofuel by one of the company’s waste to energy partners.
“This investment ensures that irreparable pallets do not end up in a landfill and are repurposed in a sustainable way,” said Sam Still, President & CEO. “By keeping pallets out of the landfill, we save on waste disposal costs and can create sales opportunities. The upgraded technology increases our material handling efficiency, allowing us to carry more material and decrease our carbon footprint with reduced transport.”
The new system features more automation, which translates to enhanced employee safety and supports Federal Recycling’s focused company safety program. The new setup also elevates plant cleanliness, which contributes to overall employee well-being and business professionalism.
“The new grinding equipment enhances our competitiveness as a regional leader in pallet recycling and sales by creating new capacity, revenue streams and operational efficiency,” said Cyrus Blackwell, General Manager. “Having this capability in house will enable us to pursue more opportunities with new and existing suppliers and exercise further control over our pallets business.”
